Since April 2011, the Prisoner Information System has allowed family members to send e-mails to prisoners. Emails are printed and usually sent to prisoners the next day. Prisoners do not have access to computer systems to reply to emails. To access the prisoner's e-mail page, locate the prisoner in the prisoner's information system and click on the prisoner's email link.
Find prisoners by first and last prisoner name or XREF.
Click on the name of the prisoner in the list of prisoners to see the details of the prisoner.
In the middle of the page is an envelope icon to send an e-mail to this prisoner. Click on this icon and you will be taken to the email confirmation screen.
Enter your email address in the confirmation email box, type two confirmation words from the image, and click Send Email Address.
After you click Send Email, a new email message will appear in your email inbox. Open the email, click on the message link and you will receive your message in Escrow. Remember that you enter text in the web form, not in your email.
Once this is done, click Send and your message will be ready.
Prisoners cannot access the Internet. I know from experience.
