Definition of Loudermill rights:

1. Employee rights deriving from a 1985 US Supreme court decision (Cleveland Board of Education vs. Loudermill) that most public (but not private) employees have a property right in their jobs. An employee cannot be dismissed without due process involving pre-termination hearing that gives them the opportunity to present their side of the story.
