Definition of Digital linear tape (DLT):

1. Half-inch wide magnetic tape that can store up to 35-gigabytes (GB) per cassette by using longitudinal recording. Replaces the four millimeter-wide digital audio tape (DAT) which could store up to only four gigabytes of data per cassette.
