Desktop Outsourcing - How To Discuss

By Rachel Hickman |

Desktop Outsourcing

Desktop outsourcing is a multi-year or annual contract or relationship that includes responsibility for the day-to-day management of desktop/client platform activities. Services include any combination (or all) of Product Support and Professional Services as they relate specifically to the day-to-day management of office resources (including office peripherals). Desktop outsourcing contracts at least always include services that fall under the IT environment of the Operations Services segment. Help desk management services are included only to the extent that the issue has been identified and resolved at the hardware, infrastructure software, or operating system software level. Application management services are enabled only at the infrastructure software or operating system software level. A desktop system can include any client system (including a laptop) and remote worker client systems, such as telecommuters and mobile workers. Services can be provided on-site or off-site. IT resources can be owned by the customer, the ESP or a third party. Contracts may include the transfer of ESP Client employees, IT resources and equipment.
