Ch2o2 Lewis Structure - How To Discuss
Ch2o2 Lewis Structure
What is the Lewis structure and Vsper shape of CH2o2? 3
This is the hardest question I've ever seen.
updateI want to thank you both, you have no idea how long I have been trying.
Not really, just keep in mind that when you have C it's usually in the middle. When you have C and O, there is always the possibility of a double bond, and H can follow C or O as needed. Oh, and remember that C has four connections to it.
At first glance, put C in the middle and two O's and two H's. This is not a good choice because you will not have enough electrons to meet the byte principle of C and O has a double bond in one Os and another H and another H for carbon.
Number of valence electrons C (4) + H (2X1) + O (2X6) = 18
OK H bond C [(double bond with O with four extra electrons) and (bond with H with bond with O)]
Put four more electrons in the other O and you have.
H C [(= O) and (OH)]
It forms the VSEPR, the central atom around which are three flat triangle objects.

1: Lewis Structure: I assume it is formic acid: HCOOH. See the first source for the Lewis structure.
Form 2 is a trigonal-planar around a vsepr carbon atom. The COH fraction is double that of H2O (see second source)
