Ad Tag

An ad tag is a piece of code that an advertiser supplies to a website instead of the actual ad they want to serve, which invokes the ad from its ad server. They usually come in Javascript.

A piece of HTML code on a web page that communicates with an ad server and requests an ad. The tag tells the browser to open a small window (e.g. 468x60 pixels) and place the content retrieved from a specific location (e.g. this window). Note that ad tags are related to, but not identical to, locations, which are part of the information embedded in ad tags. This is an example of a JavaScript ad tag
